FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
November 18, 2025
COLUMBUS, Ohio – State Representative Adam Mathews (R-Lebanon) today announced that the Ohio Department of Development has released guidelines for the Residential Economic Development District Program.
In House Bill 96, Ohio’s State Operating Budget, the General Assembly allocated $25 million in grant funding over the biennium available to communities near major economic development projects that adopt certain pro-housing policies, a provision championed by Mathews. The program will help more Ohioans have the chance to find affordable, high-quality homes near their place of employment.
The application period opens at 10 a.m. December 16, 2025, and will close at 5 p.m. January 16, 2026.
“If we want to grow our economy and support Ohio families, we need to encourage housing growth throughout our state,” said Mathews. “This program is crafted to give local communities the flexibility to adopt the pro-housing policies that suit their needs, and the grant funding available will assist them in promoting new housing construction. I encourage all eligible communities to consider applying.”
