I write to let you know that Warren County – and our party – has lost a dear friend; Les Spaeth passed away on Tuesday at age 92. It’s next to impossible to summarize all of Les’s contributions to our community and our party.  In addition to serving as the Chairman of the Warren County Republican Party for 17 years, Les served as a corporal during World War II, was a member of the Mason Volunteer Fire Department, and was a dedicated public servant: President of the Mason Village Council, Warren County Auditor (1963-1987), and a member of the Warren County Board of Elections (1987-2012).  But Les’s contributions were not limited to these known public accomplishments. He also volunteered with the American Legion’s Buckeye Boys’ State Program for decades and served as an Elder at his church, Heritage Presbyterian.  More significantly, he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  His decades of selfless service made our party, our community, and our country a better place.  It seems grossly inadequate to simply say that he will be missed, but it’s the truth.

To me, Les will always be remembered as the Chairman. He was a giant in our party and will be deeply missed.

Our hearts and prayers go out to Les’s family.

Friends are invited to attend a celebration of  Les's life at Heritage Presbyterian Church, 6546 S. Mason-Montgomery Road, Mason, Ohio 45040, Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 12:30 p.m.  Friends will be received at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins.  Graveside services will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Heritage Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund or to the Republican Women of Warren County’s Ellen Spaeth Scholarship Fund.
