Welcome to the Warren County Republican Party
Jeff Monroe elected to lead Warren County GOP

LEBANON — The city’s vice mayor has a new political role.
Jeff Monroe, a Lebanon City Councilman who was also serving as the chairman of the Warren County Republican Central Committee, was selected Thursday as the chairman of the county GOP’s Executive Committee during a meeting at the Warren County Administration Building.
“It’s something I didn’t aspire to but it’s a great responsibility to help get Republicans elected,” Monroe said. “Warren County has a very strong Republican Party and I’m tickled to help lead it.”
Monroe succeeds David Fornshell, who was appointed as the county prosecutor in February. Fornshell decided to step down to focus more of his time serving as prosecutor and preparing his campaign to retain that office.
In an informational handout Monroe shared with executive committee members, he said he had one primary goal as chairman: “To elect Republicans and support Republican issues.”
His secondary goals include fundraising, promoting leaders, building a network of friends and neighbors, strengthen party loyalty and increase our brand value locally and statewide.
Monroe, 43, was elected Lebanon council in 2005. He is president of a local think tank and is in the process of opening a gun store.
He said Sherri Carbo, the vice chairwoman of the Central Committee, will take over his former position.
While Monroe’s selection as chairman of the party’s Executive Committee was the last order of business at Thursday’s meeting, the county GOP formally endorsed passage of state Issue 2 and Issue 3. Issue 2 deals with collective bargaining rights of public employees as a result of Senate Bill 5, while Issue 3 deals with Ohioans having the right to decide if they want to purchase health insurance.
Monroe said the Warren County GOP rarely endorses issues or candidates. However, in the case of endorsing passage of Issue 2, Monroe said that “makes a real statement because it shows we’re backing (state) Sen. (Shannon) Jones.”
Jones, R-Springboro, is the legislator who authored Senate Bill 5.
